On every product page, you will find the heel height, the arch and our walkability advice. On this page, we explain what these numbers mean and how we measure them. Below, you can also compare the heel heights of all our Sanctum Shoes and Giaro models.
Heel height

The heel height is the total height in cm, measured on size EU 38. If the shoe has a platform, the platform is included. We measure the "Italian way": straight up from the floor, not following the curve of the heel. This gives the effective heel height. |
Arch: the height you actually walk on
 |
The arch is the heel height minus the platform and sole, measured on size EU 38 in cm. This is the height your foot actually stands at, so the arch has the biggest influence on how walkable a pair of heels is. A regular arch for high heels is about 10 cm, also called "fashion height". The higher the arch, the more experience you need. In our Heel-O-Meter, you can see which arch suits you. |
How we measure heel height
Method 1: how we measure
We measure straight up from the floor to the highest point at the back of the heel. These are the heights you see on our product pages, in our size charts and in the Heel-O-Meter.
Method 2: how some others measure
Some factories and shops measure from the floor to the point where the heel meets the shoe, in the middle of the heel. This gives a lower number: on high heels, the difference can be about 1 cm. Please keep this in mind when you compare our heels with other shops.
